About This Course
The People Manager course is about what managers actually do every day: clarify expectations, support their people, remove blockers and hold others accountable with empathy and fairness.
You will learn the fundamentals of leading people – from 1:1s and feedback conversations to delegation, performance and growth. By the end, you’ll have practical tools and scripts to handle common management situations with more confidence and less stress.

Module 1
Role of the People Manager
- From Individual Contributor to Manager – mindset shifts
- What Great Managers Actually Do – align, enable, develop, protect time
- Trust & Psychological Safety – why people perform for some managers, not others
- Communication Basics – expectations, clarity, listening and follow‑through
- Running Effective 1:1s – structure, questions, follow‑ups
- Exercise: Map your current team and plan a simple 1:1 rhythm
Module 2
Feedback, Delegation & Difficult Conversations
- Everyday Feedback – reinforcing what works, not just fixing what doesn’t
- Feedback Models – situation–behaviour–impact, feed‑forward
- Delegation – choosing what to delegate, to whom, and how
- Coaching Style – asking questions vs giving instructions
- Difficult Conversations – performance, behaviour, conflict basics
- Exercise: Draft a feedback / delegation script for a real situation
Module 3
Performance, Growth & Team Health
- Goals & Expectations – aligning on outcomes, not just tasks
- Tracking Performance – simple metrics, check‑ins and reviews
- Development & Careers – strengths, opportunities, development plans
- Motivation & Recognition – what keeps people engaged
- Team Health – workload, well‑being, remote / hybrid dynamics
- Exercise: Build a one‑page “Team on a Page” view for your team
