About This Course

The People Manager course is about what managers actually do every day: clarify expectations, support their people, remove blockers and hold others accountable with empathy and fairness.

You will learn the fundamentals of leading people – from 1:1s and feedback conversations to delegation, performance and growth. By the end, you’ll have practical tools and scripts to handle common management situations with more confidence and less stress.

  • Trust & Psychological Safety – why people perform for some managers, not others
  • Communication Basics – expectations, clarity, listening and follow‑through
  • Running Effective 1:1s – structure, questions, follow‑ups
  • Exercise: Map your current team and plan a simple 1:1 rhythm
Module 2 Feedback, Delegation & Difficult Conversations
  • Everyday Feedback – reinforcing what works, not just fixing what doesn’t
  • Feedback Models – situation–behaviour–impact, feed‑forward
  • Delegation – choosing what to delegate, to whom, and how
  • Coaching Style – asking questions vs giving instructions
  • Difficult Conversations – performance, behaviour, conflict basics
  • Exercise: Draft a feedback / delegation script for a real situation

  • Goals & Expectations – aligning on outcomes, not just tasks
